This book is a collection of successful business stories; the one, which will be focused on, is the success of Ray Kroc’s McDonald’s, and the entire fast food industry. From the idea in California, Kroc was able to build franchises in Illinois that people enjoyed. He then began to expand it not only throughout the United States, but the world.

Jakle, John A. and Sculle, Keith A. Fast Food: Roadside Restaurants in the Automobile Age. Baltimore: John Hopkins University Press, 1999.
This book suggests that the fast food and roadside restaurants have flourished largely because of the automobile. The automobile is a major part of most Americans lives today, and has created a faster paced life; which demands fast and convenient food service. Drive thru windows are one the fast food industries adaptations due to convenience.

McLamore, James W. The Burger King. New York: McGraw-Hill, 1997.
Jim McLamore, the Burger King, created one of the largest fast food companies in the world, Burger King. The book explores how he was able to rapidly expand Burger King, and the items in which he created.

Samuels, Gary. “Golden Arches Galore.” Forbes. November 4, 1996. Vol. 158(11), 46-48.
Even with the golden arches everywhere you look, McDonald’s is still trying to expand. One of the targets is the Third-World. McDonald’s goal is to increase their market share percentage even further.
