Look to your left, now look to your right, the person that you are looking at probably won’t be here your senior year.” Words that an administrative once told the freshman of the class of two thousand nine. Throughout America almost half the students are dropping. One might be wondering, “But how is that a problem?” By a high school student dropping out that causes more problems. For example: 81.2 percent of inmates were high school drop outs. By them dropping out they more than likely committed a crime and got arrested. Everyone knows that being incarcerated is a major problem that I don’t want to even get in to. Another example: on average a high dropout would make 19,000 dollars a year, on average someone with a high school diploma makes 28,000 dollars a year. In this economy today 19,000 dollars is diffently not enough to survie off of, but people continue to drop out like its not a problem.

The reason I chose this topic is because, in the society half the students are dropping out and not getting an education. That is not good are future depends on those behind us, and if every one is dropping and making 19,000 dollars a year we won’t have a future.

If a child is home, instead of being in school, that child is likely to have about six hours of free time. Some people like to say the more free time, more time you have to get into some trouble. Because so many students drop we have a higher rate of incarcerations. This is another social logical problem all in one. Seventy-five percent of the time if that child would stay in school they would not have been in jail. That child would have finished school and went on to be a professional instead being a jail bird for dumb crimes because they were bored.

One reason people drop out is because they become pregnant. Some females are shy and ashamed that they are pregnant, so they try to hide. They figure since they have made the mistake that don’t deserve to go school, they need to take of them and the child. Now that they have a job, they stick to working almost minimum wage, so they feel they are doing well. How ever, that causes another economical problem, which is not having enough money circulated appropriately. Teenage pregnancy is a leading cause in high school drop outs.

High school students drop out causes less money to be made in the world. The less education you have the less money you are likely to make, which leaves less money to be made. You as a high school drop out miss out as well because, you could be making more money but instead you have to work a minimum wage job, because you don’t have appropriate education, because you dropped out. It is very unfortunate that these have to take place as a high school drop out. If we just stay in school then these types of things won’t occur.

To conclude there are causes and effects for everything in life. Since one cause of high drop outs is teen age pregnancy the effect of that would be making less money. By one not coming to school the effect of that is getting in to trouble. This leads to another problem which is being incarcerated. To prevent these problems come to school and try to stay focused on school.
