The topic I chose to research for this paper is what a big problem it is in society, the percentage of African Americans that are inprisoned. Statistics show that one in every nine African American men ages twenty to thirty- four are incarcirated as well as one out of one hundred African American women ages thirty-five to thirty-nine are inprisoned. This is in fact a major problem in society, to know that such a high percentage of black men are more likely to go to prison than any other race. This causes more problems in society for the simple fact that this leaves more and more children with out fathers in there lives and statistics show that children with out there father in there life are more likely to go to jail than others and that causes another big issue.

Being an African American male myself I know hands on that black men in general are looked down upon in different situations and are judge from what society has titled us. As a black male I understand that a large percentage of our population has been known for there negative actions which causes society to look at us in discracefull way. One of the main reasons why African Americans are more likely to be involved in illegal activity is because of the conditions and surroundings they are forced to live in. Your surroundings have alot to do with what type of activities you will be involved in and the type of people you are forced to interact with.Along with highest percentage of being arrested we also have the highest poverty rate of all the races and this is why African Americans are more likely to go to jail.
