ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY
Malinvaud, Edmond. Mass Unemployment: Blackwell Pub, 1986 The author argues for a far-reaching reappraisal of current economic theory. He addresses in turn the nature of long-term mass unemployment, the economist's problems in analyzing it, and government policy options for alleviating it. Unemployment can, it is argued, best be seen as a macroeconomic disequilibrium, which may be Keynesian, or classical or a mixture of the two. Concentrating on the dynamics of change in the economy, the author examines the interaction ot the three salient factors: prices and wages, capital accumulation, and mobility of labour, capital and demand.
Cottle, Thomas. Hardest Times: Long term unemployment : University of Massaachusetts 2003 “Tom's work brings us face to face with the lived reality of poverty and unemployment. In the midst of our current, and surely short-lived, celebration of unprecedented prosperity, we need to hear the voices Tom Cottle has recorded, if only to be better prepared for the travails that await us.“Tom Cottle's newest book Hardest Times...brings something new and significant to our understanding of the problems of long term unemployment
Stringham, Jim. The Unemployment Surivival Guide: Gibbs Smith, 2004 Break Time provides helpful information on how to take care of you while unemployed, and offers suggestions on dealing with feelings of isolation, keeping a sense of humor, maintaining self-esteem, and feeling more comfortable with a temporarily lower standard of living. Break Time will be the most important book you read while out of work.
