There are many sociological problems in the United States.The sociological problem that I chose to research is homelessness in America.I chose this topic because homelessness is something I worry about, even when I was younger.I constantly drive around the city of Chicago and see people holding signs asking for money and shelter.It’s kind of sad for people to see others on the street looking through garbage and sleeping in allies. Homelessness in America persists in part because many urban areas remain economically depressed, housing costs have risen rapidly in the past decade, and wages for lower skilled workers have remained stable.
The most proximate cause of homelessness in America is poverty.They are in constant threat of harm.As a result, they spend more time in hospitals and jails. The majority of these people are victims of violent crimes and in need of medical care.According to statistics, children in homeless families do worse in school and have lower attendance and more long term absences.I want to research this topic to find out more about how this society can prevent homelessness in America.
